How have parents disciplined an unruly son?

What's the best way to discipline an unruly child who knows no respect?

I say don't waste time - put them in a home, but, meanwhile, are there any other recommendations that parents have implemented with success that perhaps I been too quick to over look?

Replies from respectable, established, disciplined, genteel members of society preferred please.

Liberal "flower children" - please - do not suggest more "love".

Love is and can *never* be "true" love without **RESPECT** established first.
