Two things.
1.) I can't make new stuff up. I can't come up with interesting things to make up. I hate that.
2.) I only write these little things because it is fun and it's a release of tensions for me... I post them here because I'm interested in seeing how people might react. Some people do enjoy the style, and that makes me happy. But that's about it. I don't really expect, as some of my friends do, to do anything in particular with the stupid things I write.
"Oh, you should be a write Matches."
"Yeah whatever, blow me."
I appreciate it when people find what I write amusing, but I really try not to hold it against them if they don't.
: : I never said I didn't believe you, but the fact is that no one gives a God damn about anything that I write about. There's nothing at all interesting to write about.
:
: "Informal essays are, by and large, silly and insubstantial things; unless you get a job as a columnist at your local newspaper, writing such fluffery is a skill you'll never use in the actual mall-and-filling-station world. Teachers assign them when they can't think of any other way to waste your time. The most notorious subject, of course, is 'How I Spent My Summer Vacation.'"
: So says Stephen King in 'On Writing', page 147. I have a suggestion: if there isn't anything interesting to write about in the world, make something new up.
