I thought he was responding to his own question. You thought he was responding to mine. Upon rereading his post, I see the way you interpreted it. It could be read either way, equally validly. His grammatical inconsistency created ambiguity, so it needs to be explained.
He was grammatically incorrect if he was responding to MY question, as well. My question was in the 2nd person, and in past tense. His reference disagreed with it on both counts. If he was responding to my question, he should have said, "Most people would answer 'yes' to your question."
I stand corrected. He did not say "many people"; he said "most people." I'm sorry for all the harm that misquoting him may have done.
