Hello all. I learned about the Enneagram from my wonderful sister. I haven't ever made enough time to study it in depth, but it makes a lot of sense to me. I always thought I was a 2. I took the RHETI online, and it also said 2, but 8 was a close second. on the "New Test" it said I was a 3, with 2 as a close second. I have turned to the Enneagram and MBTI for help in determining a career path for myslef. I am currently a junior in college majoring in Elementary Education. I am not happy though. I made a hasty decision my sophomore year to become a teacher, and now that I am taking the classes that prepare me for such a career, I am not satisfied. The problem is that I don't know what to do. Many careers sound interesting to me, but I don't know what I should do. Because of my 2 on the Enneagram, and being an ESFJ on the MBTI, all signs point towards a social occupation in which I am of service to others (teaching, counseling, a priest of rabbi (umm... no.), secretarial work (does that require college?...) etc... This does sound appealing to me, however I also want to be well-compensated, and most social-service careers do not pay very well. I like to be social, but I also like to work alone to get things done, because people can sometimes "just get in the way" of progress and success. I really enjoy biology, but am not sure about the science world. I really love going to school, but making this decision about what I am going to school for is nerve-racking. I want to 1.) Like what I am doing 2.) Be very financially stable 3.) Help others 4.) Pick a career that I am capable of doing (i.e. Am I smart enough?) Sorry for rambling on and on, but if others of you have been in this situation, or are currently, I would really appreciate some feedback on what the hell you think I could/should consider doing. Decisions, decisions. I am a true 2/ESFJ, I don't mind decisions, but I like to make them quickly, and feel good after I have made them. It's just not that easy regarding this.
