: The us embassy web site has info for all the legalities about coming to the us. Note, if you want to work while you are here, and you are not legal, you will have to find someone willing to let you work under the table. I dont think america has the 'working vacation' exchange that some countries have with each other. That allows foreingers (usually young people) to live and work about 6 mos in a country.

Thanks for the hints. I knew about that Visa-Stuff but I was thinking that there would be easier ways ... just going over for the US with usual tourist visa and working something simple while being there .. McD or something like that.

: : I've already been in the US once and found it not so nice but I think I've made a mistake. It's been like a holiday somewhere and afterwards recognizing that there's been something around there (and if it's just been the athmosphere) that is still interesting and somehow feels inviting again. The little shops for instance that still are open at night, the asocials on the street on their chairs and in their bags, the jewelry shops, the restaurants, the LOEWE-cinema and so on.
: : Some days back I have talked about my visit to a friend and he told me that I would have done a mistake as I had just gone there to have a visit without actually taking the chance to work there. So how is it? If I'd go there again could I easily find a job? I can speak english pretty well and am not used to comfortability so much so I could easily fit into some niche somewhere. Do you have experiences with that? How long could I work there? Would I need some paper? How much money should I bring with me for the first days? Maybe a link or an email would be helpful.
