The Muslim prohibition about making images of people is to prevent worship of the person through the image. However this has not prevented Muslims fromdeveloping art featuring people as they have always allowed for the representation of people in a non-sacred or non-serious way. That is the reason that Islamic art in Persia used small cartoon images, now known as 'Persian miniatures' and that contemporary books about Islam use cartoon drawings. A Muslim doll would come into the non-serious category.
I thought at first that you were saying there was a contradiction in the 'In/Out Doll' and was going to say that if Muslim women dressed like Barbie out of doors in most predominantly Muslim countries, then they'd get majorly harassed. Most of the countries that Islam took hold in were pretty 'backward' in the sense of being full of warring tribes and Islam was seen as a unifying and civilising force.
