Hey there DQ you :). The way I look at it, when 57 Chevy's were popular, people bought 57 Chevy's. And 4's at that time probably hated them and bought Edsels or something, or rode around on horses, and cussed at all those danged arseholes hogging the road in their Chevy's. No?
Nowadays SUVs are popular, and most Americans like to drive them. And the anti-establishment types like to find flaws with that.
I believe that most people who drive SUVs don't think about it one way or another; they just know what they like (which is, yes, determined by what everyone else likes - the veritable definition of "popular"). They aren't trying to make up for something or whatever; I can't believe that 50% of Americans buy SUVs because they are trying to overcome their inadequacies.
Yes, my pet peeve is people in general; I am after all a 5! With a hellish 4 wing to boot! LOL
