what an "uproar" over this topic :)
I don't think it's strange or annoying or absurd to have a livejournal... I've considered it, but knowing myself, I would write in it maybe once a year...! Would be kind of pointless for me.
I think it's neat to browse other people's pages once in a while... I find it interesting to know what others are thinking, doing, feeling, experiencing... but I admit, I'm a bit of a "voyeur"... and since my life isn't too exciting nowdays, I kind of live aspects of my life vicariously... SO, you could say it's kind of sad in my case! But I don't care what you think! :P (I mean *you* in general - meaning, I don't care what people think about my life!).
Also, just plain curiosity. And relating or not relating to what others are feeling.
About why a person would keep an online journal, I think partly it's a way to share who you are especially when you are shy... kind of hoping you can express things you are unable to IRL, or in spoken words... But not necessarily. I can also see that it's just kind of fun, to write stuff, and maybe get responses from anyone out there... I just love the internet, so I think it's fascinating to thing that people thousands of miles apart are reading the same thing at the same time... personally, I feel connected - but in an unreal way, I know. Avoidant, completely. It's interaction without the risk of rejection or embarassment... you can think about what you are going to say for as long as you need before you say it...
I don't know. I'm thinking out loud... kind of like I would if I had an online journal I guess!
Online journal: yes or no? I say yes, why not? So you're not interested in what a person is writing? Don't read it! Shouldn't bug you that someone is willing or has no problem with thinking out loud, online, for anyone to see.
