In rural areas trucks and SUVs at least serve a purpose, usually. It's more efficient to have a large vehicle in the country where you have to travel long distances at a time with large loads.
Ok, so SUV haters are suburban so-called individualists who are looking for something to complain about because they hate trendiness? I guess then you'd be the anti-individualist super individualist who hates subcultures who complain about mainstream culture. No better and no worse.
As far as the complaints of the bikers and horse-carriage riders, I'd say their complaints were warranted. There's not much arguement over the damage cars have done.
