Enneagram Chat Board Archive how to give the "vegan moral fitness test"Posted by pork (68.55.164.40) on January 31, 2003 at 20:22:36: In Reply to: To any vegans posted by Diarmuid (194.125.207.91) on January 28, 2003 at 09:09:23: Rent a copy of _Faces of Death_ and show it to your subject. Observe your subject's responses during the first half of the film, which shows supposedly real footage of cruelty to animals. If your subject looks disturbed by the footage, you might have a chance of persuading them to the moral convictions of veganism. If your subject snickers, laughs, or runs to the video store to rent _Faces of Death_ II, III, IV, and V, they're hopeless. This is some of the stuff they'll see: - Archaic-looking slaughterhouse procedures. - A rooster getting beheaded and scampering around madly for a few moments afterward (a shock to the central nervous system following death). - A group of diners at an African restaurant forcing a live, screaming, nervous-looking monkey into a tight body cage in the middle of their table, bashing its head in with special blunt "silverware," and feasting on its brains. (There's a shot of the monkey's mutilated head in the close foreground with the complacent diners laughing and making merry in the background - this shot is quite disturbing.) - Crowds of wild seals getting clubbed and skinned. ^(oo)^
