Ya, they're doing it for 2 reasons probably:
a) Chicks with back tattoos are HOT a lot of the time...specially if they got nice backs...grauwwwwwwww...i definately think it's a good thing in most cases
b) Where else could a girl get a tattoo??? on her arms??? blecchhhh... some get on feat or calves which can be cool too...but i like back ones the best...lower back is the best place...

maybe it's a generation difference or something cause when i see em i'm like "hey that's pretty cool" but it's also not a big peer pressure thing either cause if someone doesn't have a tattoo you don't think anything bad about it....everyone sees stuff that younger people do as peer pressure these days, "oh you're just doing that cause it's the 'in' thing" but i disagree to a certain extent...to me at least it's kinda like ANYTHING GOES whatever image you wanna have that's cool as long as you're stayin true to yourself...posers are almost the worst thing there is...variety is a good thing though makes life interesting...normal is just BOOOOORING
