I don't think so. : Always speak straight with me. O.K. but be warned, I can be as direct, authoritative, and stubborn as any 8. (I'm a pretty healthy 5) : Overinterpration? One of the reasons why people withdraw from interacting with others and feel like outsiders. I go to 5 when I disintegrate, you see, and I want to avoid that. For a well-practised five, it is rarely overinterpretation. I appreciate what you're saying and I'm listening because 8 is integration for me. Maybe I can learn something from you. : I'd take it granted that accurate interaction is more important. I'm an 8w9. And I tend to take it for granted that accurate interpretation is more important. Makes me wonder about other types. Story? A few years back when I first was reading about the enneagram, I had a temp job as a secretary for a large hotel-- was just temp not a regular position. The GM was an 8w9. Everyday he would walk past my desk reading a newpaper, stop, and look down at me over the top of his glasses. In the beginning, this made me nervous... I'd continue working, waiting for him to say something... but after a minute or two he'd just walked on. After a while, I was curious and a bit bothered... so I'd stop working, fold my hands, and wait until he was finished staring and walked on. After about two months of this puzzling senario, gave up trying to guess and I stared right back into his eyes. Next day, he comes by he says abruptly: "Are you going to come to work for us or what?" I nearly fell out of my chair with surprise and laughter.
