> This series shows us quite some Self Sacrificing Style characters. Surely firefighter Alex Taylor is a such a character; helping other people in need out of burning buildings even if it means that this ‘superwoman’ / hero has to sacrifice her own life to do it.
> Claudio Naranjo has made the connection between depressive personalities and masochistic/self defeating/sacrificing characters, which can bes een with Kim; she’s a warm , altruisitic, empathic woman who allways has a melancholic tinge in her eyes. One can easily feel sorry for her ‘fate’ and feel sympathy towards her: serving others interests seem to prevail about pursuing her own interests.

Hello Jan:
My wife and I watch the show every week. I believe that you are right, that the spirit of the show is the Self-Sacrificing Style, but it is very plainly mixed with other styles as well:
Bosco- mixed with the Conscientious, a 1W2, Bosco is prett outspoken about people SHOULD be doing....
Doc- the Serious & Self-Sacrificing variant of the 9W1; a peacemaker; tries to make Carlos more caring....
Carlos- his Self-Sacrificing is mixed with compensatory narcissism; Carlos ignores the fact that his self centeredness & selfishness alienate everyone around him, and make him mostly ineffectual....
Faith- a classic 2W1, wants to help, is realistic about life, love, Faith has enough Framatic to think of herslef sometimes.
Sully- Seems to be a 9W8/Self-Sacrificing. He want to be of service, but not have to take guff, or give up his pleasures ( eating, drink beer with his fellow police members ), knows how the " system " works !
Davis- besides being Alex's lover, another peacemaking 9W1 Self-Sacrificing variant ; Idealistic Serious, in this case....
