The Andrew Cunanan Story. posted by Jan den Breejen on February 29, 2000 at 03:52:42: What it sounds like is Inventive (compensatory narcissistic) style. Sensitive style deteriorates into Avoidant personality disorder, which Cunanan appears to not have had. Both styles are very similar...there are both strong issues of inferiority, strong sensitivity to criticism, and a mask to the world. However, how they respond to the inferiority is different. Sensitives cut off their connection to the world for fear of being criticized, unliked, or neglected. Their view of the world is that of danger, so they approach life cautiously. The more unhealthy they get, the more difficulty they have in people. They even go to the point of not leaving their homes. From what I know, Cunanan was rather charming and got along well with people...something that a Sensitive couldn't. Inventives, on the other hand, can put up a nice false front and smoothly handle people. Also, the reasons for committing the crimes seem to come out of seem more in this neurosis than for Avoidant reasons. I think Andy is right in saying he is a 3w4. I do agree that he had some strong Sensitive personality in him. It might be in the top 3 personality styles, but I think he was predominantely an Inventive. -Cory
