For those who think that E3-ishness is an sympom of the 1990's look at this facinating documentary. The E3 'from rags to riches' German tradesman Heinrich Schliemann wants to get accepted by the beau monde/high society of the late 19th century. He self started an academic career after he made his fortune; he achieved extremely high grades caused by his seemingly endless energy and efficiency of study methods. Of course his academic title was only a means to the goal of digging out the remains of the ancient city Troy in Turkey. He cunningly outsmarted Turkish bureaucracy and paranoid security officers and took loads of ancient jewelry home. He succeeded in seemingly hopeless situations because of his self confidence, efficiency, lying and sheer workaholism. He indeed succeeded in becoming the talk of the European towns. His feverish digging efforts however destroyed a large part of the real troy; the excavated jewelry he decorated his wife with (newspaper photo's!) were from a much earlier prehistoric civilization. Schlieman didn't care! How about opportunism as the main E3 trait?
