Our prisons are crowded with E8 criminals. However every enneatype can become a killer, when the situation triggers him/her (and of course E8's don't have to get triggered.) The FBI has a special department for profiling the character of killers. Let's try to draw the 9-colored spectrum of motives why to kill, by using the enneatypes:

E1 - Hannibal Lector in Silence of the Lambs: kills out of burning anger and frustration at peoples behavior
E2 - the red haired 'buddy' of the protagonist in Single White Female: crime passionelle (fear of losing the person you consider your emotional 'possession')
- Glenn Close in Fatal Attraction
E3 - Sharon Stone in Basic Instinct: to kill out of the need to outsmart others publicly (to 'win the game')
- Ted Bundy serial killed because he wanted to get the public recognition he craved for: to kill the most woman in the most cruel way (Guiness book motive)
(see the movie about him: The Deliberate Stranger)
E4 - the Buffalo Bill character in Silence of the Lambs; also the mysterious killer in Seven. They kill to enhance their weird specialness and find an outlet for their need to be original (murder as a kind of art made by tormented artists). Also: the murderer of JFK; Lee Harvey Oswald in: 'Ruby' (see my earlier review)
E5 - Robocop; killing because of the lack of ability to feel; seeing people as objects like chairs and tables (essentially the autistic character: I don't understand Tom Condon when he types Dustin Hoffman in Rainman as E6...)
E6 - the killer in the movie Dead Calm: to kill out of self defense/paranoia. Also: the sick leader of the E6 gang who killed Sharon Tate (anybody please supply his name; I can remember...); he killed white people in order to trigger the new racial war he thought would come; he killed to start this war; when he knew the moment he and his E6 gang members could take precautions and survive
E7 - the Joker in the Batman; killing as a way to amuse yourself (= escape your anxiety) without regard to the consequences for others
E8 - The Godfather and the bodyguard of Robert the Niro in 'Casino': killing people when they stand in your way to full domination
E9 - The Jack Ruby character in the movie Ruby; killing because people disturb your mental harmony or to prevent this disturbance (lack of ability to say 'no' to a request to kill)
