: I am having second thoughts on the Gill case; don't you think the rigid structuring of things to come by Gill would make the label 'serious style'a good one?

Possibly. But what about the Conscientious style? They are very organized, clean, planned, structured.

: And with regard to the Crocodile Hunter posting; wouldn't the Vigilant/surviver type be good choice?

Well, I still think your original idea that he was Adventerous is accurate. Although Adventerous types tend to be promiscuous, hedonistic, possibly even a bit criminal. He seems a bit difficult to type.

For Cunanan: Mercurial might be in the top. Inventive/Sensitive/Mercurial...I could see those three styles playing major roles in his personality. The Mercurial style would make him impulsive and also allow him to be very adaptable. They can merge into their surroundings, so they have a good social camoflauge. In some ways they are similar to type Nine, except they are extremely emotional.
