Well, from my own experience living in Britain (actually in Scotland, not England) and the stories I have heard from my friend who now lives in Zurich "in a very restricted way with very little to have fun", I think these two are the other way round. Remember that "Monty Python's Flying Circus"? That's typical Fivish humour!

: E1 - stiff upper lip English culture
: E5 - the isolated Swiss (neutral at WOI and WO II)

We have to bear in mind though, that E5 (and some E1 factors do co-exsit, I believe) England only applies to middle-to upper middle class English, not to "football hooligan"-type working class people!
