Movies show us icons of personality styles. In the pre-movie period astrological icons became symbols of characters. Although the enneagram is vastly superior to astrological icons with regard to the clarity of profile; its an interesting excercise to try to match both systems as closely as possible. I've not used any esoteric wisdom, just today's mainstream texts about the 12 signs. Here we go:
ARIES - E6 (counterfobic; Mel Gibson-like)
attacking impulsively any danger, uncontrolled power (in contrast with the controlled power of E8 LEO), extremist, rash, taking risks/'fearless'
TAURUS - E9
'earthy', slow but sure, Goofy like/clumsy, gentle, even tempered, loves comfort, hostile to change, slow to anger butwhen provoced: like a bull, friendly, modest, straight, solid, stable.
GEMINI - E2
need of contact, duality in humane selflessness and egocentrism, affectionate, generous, kind, courteous, flirtatious, liable to fall in and out love
PISCES - E9
easily misled, submissive, loyal, malleable nature, easy going nature, limited willpower, patient, good natured, aimiable, quiet, careless, idle, dreamer (narcotization), absorbed, ineffective, limited ambition
CAPRICORN - E1
disciplined (reaction formation), serious, strong-willed, hard working, sets high standards, unyielding, tough, fair, logical-rational, self-critical, honest, prone to suppress emotions, collected
AQUARIUS - E1
educational (communicating wisdom), idealistic, independent, strong convictions, truth seeking, doesn't easily make friends, cold, unforgiving, fanatical, excessive detachment, refined, logic/reason, good deeds/missionary/reforming
CANCER - E5
hiding behind hard outer shell (like a turtoise): conceals soft and vulnerable interior ('my home is my castle'), home lover, 'a time to be solitary', wise, inventive, apparently un-emotional, cold towards outsiders, phlegmatic, attached to home
LEO - E8
unlimited sexual lust, commanding personality, a leader, always seeking a position of command, not afraid to bully, finds it difficult to relinquish dominant position, arrogant, autocratic, boastful, bombastic, suspicious, independent, strong-willed
VIRGO - E1
critical, insisting, perfectionist approach, loves refinement, cleanliness and order, well-spoken, hard-working, thorough, nitpicking, keeps tight control on own emotions, conceal much inner emotions, high standards, analytical, discreet, judicious, fastidious
LIBRA - E9
person of balance and harmony, sensitive to the needs of others (merging), even tempered, easily influenced, chronic inability to make decisions, gentle, affectionate, changeable, indecisive, peacemaker, impartial, gentle
SCORPIO/EAGLE - E4
passionate, intense, jealous, can be obsessive, irrational acts, intuitive, sensitive, quick to detect insult and easily moved by emotions, volatile, brooding, abrupt, tendency towards extremism, introverted, dignified, easily hurt
SAGITTARIOUS - E7
great potential often not realized (planner/visionary), happy-go-lucky attitude, carelessness to consequences of actions, open attitude towards life, independent, frivolous, impatient, sets great value on personal freedom, restless spiritual explorer, versatility, initiating
Of course an exact match is not possible (12 doesn't fit 9), but this is my best educated guess. Any comments? Proposed changes?
