And a Happy Winter Solstice Proximity* to you, too, Jan... But first, two questions. Where are you getting your Sun profiles? They're rather unlike any I've ever seen. And second... when were all the Threes born?

* - a nice, fluffy, irritating P.C. catch-phrase that implies no presumption of religion, culture, or inclination to tradition ;)

Here's my own take on Western Astrology/Enneagram. My source: "The Little Giant Encyclopedia of Astrology." I have no "preference" for this book, as I have only skimped through it, and the likes of it, in this lifetime. I think star charts and zodiac symbols are very beautiful, and might be read like an enchanting fairy tale... but beyond that intimidating-but-nonsensical complexity, aren't there better things to dote on in life?

If I'm going to bother to disagree with you on a few of these, I may as well explain why, so I've included commentary comparing your conclusions to mine.

Aries: 3w4
(Six? My book stresses their need to win, their need to be valued, their competitiveness, their goal-centeredness. No mention of class-consciousness via fear, or a need to conform.)

Taurus: 9w8
(I hear ya there.)

Gemini: 7w6
(Like most accounts I've read, this one stresses their adventurous nature, their difficulty settling or committing, their inclination to lively conversation, and their literary wit.)

Cancer: 4w5
(No mention of the need to conceptualize, or to organize their interior before acting. In addition, my book attributes *extreme* emotionality to Cancer - more so than to any other sign! According to same, they're even "matriarchical" and "nurturing." I'm sure you didn't get that idea about "Fives" from an Enneagram book, so I'm assuming that diversity among astrology books is the cluprit. Are they really that contradictory of one another? I'm beginning to wonder if I've hit on the justificaion for astrology's popular success: if you want to believe it, all you have to do is find a book that says it your way!)

(Can you say the same about the Enneagram? Perhaps, but this is not "The Astrology Board!")

Leo: 2w3
("likes to show off ... needs to be adored ... confident ... when they take center stage in the limelight ... not interested in winning, but in being king or queen of a particular castle." The last statement would suggest Pride over Vanity, but the Leo's need for attention and adoration should suggest the Feeling Triad, not the Instinctive Triad.)

Virgo: 1w2
(I hear ya there.)

Libra: 6w7
("narcissistic ... manipulative ... overbearing ... has clear opinions ... very stong beliefs." These are the red flags that separate Sixes from likewise-interpersonally-oriented-but-less-willful Nines. Also... "terrified of being alone ... objectionable when asked to take orders ... fearful ... indecisive." I will suggest that the scales represent the Six's need for establishment.)

Scorpio: 8w9
(my book states two "levels of development" for Scorpios: "power through emotion and instinct" [8c2], and "power through intellect" [8c5] ... "has to maintain his dignity" ... zealous, honest, thrives on adversity ... "wants to dominate ... [as a child], enjoys a good fight." There is a mention of the impenetrable palace of peace they hide within themselves.)

Sagittarius: 7w8
(I hear ya there.)

Capricorn: 1w9
(I hear ya there.)

Aquarius: 5w6
(I hear ya there... the description, that is. Are you sure you didn't make a typo on the number pad? After all, how many Sun signs can typify E1? A quote: "wants to analyze everything and everyone ... rebels against commands and rules but comes to sensible conclusions when allowed to think things over for himself or herself ... does not like emotional demands." Fives are a far cry from the E1 "schoolmarm/preacher/meddler." Fives want to be independent of people's demands, and of people's emotions, including their own - and thus, they tolerate differences in people more; this book mentions that Aquarians are likely to have diverse groups of friends.)

Pisces: 9w1
(I hear ya there.)
