In Reply to: THE A TEAM'S FACEMAN - confusion about E3 and E7 archetypes? posted by Jan den Breejen on December 27, 1998 at 13:00:23:
: Claudio Narango points out that the E7 has two opposite subtypes: idealistic visionary dreamer as well as joking materialistic egoistic narcissist. I think this is wrong: that many extroverted joking narcissistic playful E3 party men/women are wrongly typed as E7 hedonists. Take the case of Faceman from the A Team series; [He] is rather lazy; he doesnt want his fashion suit get dirty, he's the ultimate narcissist.
I'm with Naranjo on this. I think the workshy amoral charmer that most people seem to have as a paradigm
Three is actually a Seven.
By the way, are you seriously basing a psychological point on a series like the A-Team. Wasn't the
characterisation frankly wooden?
: I think that the ultimate hallmark of E3 is getting applause and admiration from others; there is one E3 species which is mostly work-a-holic and another which is narcissistic and no worker at all. What do you think?
Narcissus wasn't a Three: he spent all his time admiring himself and didn't care about other
people - Threes depend on other people and have a poor self-image.
As I say, I think the idea that Threes are often lazy is based on a false stereotype. And I'm not convinced
about this hallmark idea: I don't think there are reliable hallmarks for any type.
