Envy can lead to many behavioral patterns, many worldviews and attitudes, and even many self-images. In this case, you seem to be contrasting the Social (shame) variant with the Intimate (competition) variant. Some people seem incapable of accepting that an Enneatype really *can* encompass any combination of traits. Others call this apparent inconvenience a "drawback." Granted, personality typologies based on broad behaviors and traits are more novel, but the Enneagram cuts deeper, and concerns itself with patterns most of us can't grasp. Adolf Hitler and Marilyn Monroe *were* the same type; I have no difficulty accepting that.
