SENATOR John McCain - whose campaign for the presidency has electrifled America -was a wild hellraiser, skirt-chaser and carouser who broke his crippled wife's heart. But war, hardship -and his love for his children -transformed him into a true leader. McCain was once hauled in front of a juvenile court, had a red-hot fling with a Brazilian supermodel and dated a rough-and-tumble stripper who cleaned her nails with a switchblade knife. His hard-partying exploits at the Naval Academy earned him the moniker "John Wayne McCain." "There's never been a serious presidential contender with a past as checkered as John McCain's," veteran White House correspondent Sarah McClendon, who's covered 11 Presidents, told The ENQUIRER. But five and a half grueling years in a North Vietnam POW camp gave him iron-willed determination and an overwhelming drive to make something out of his life. He came home from the jungles of hell to win the respect of all around him. But he was still no angel. He cheated on his wife who had been in a horrific car accident that took four inches off her height. She divorced him but a deeply regretful McCain managed to rebuild their friendship -and admits he's never gotten over the mental anguish he caused her. Who is the real John McCain? We learned he is an honorable man who has undergone a tremendous turnaround. The handsome presidential candidate- known for his honesty -has himself admitted, "I've been a very flawed individual on many occasions." McCain was a young midshipman when his destroyer docked in Rio de Janeiro in 1957. He stepped off the ship -and into the arms of a model. "I spent every free moment with her for the rest of my stay in Rio," McCain revealed in his autobiography, "Faith of My Fathers." "She was very beautiful ... We spent my last evening on liberty together" to my ship the next morning and I kissed her to a chorus of rowdy cheers from my shipmates." In fact, McCain was ready to marry her, revealed writer Robert Timberg. "But she was not prepared to move to the states." McCain also dated a stripper -Marie, the Flame of Florida -while attending the Navy's "Top Gun" flight school in Pensacola, and together they crashed a party thrown by some snooty friends. "Marie was dressed somewhat flamboyantly that evening, as was her custom," he recalled. "After a while she must have become a little bored. So, quietly, she reached into her purse, withdrew a switchblade, popped open the blade -and began to clean her fingernails." At the Naval Academy, McCain had rocketed to the top of his class in partying. "If you didn't want to live on the edge, you never wanted to party with John," said close friend Frank Gamboa. And Timberg, who dug into McCain's past for his book, " John McCain: An American Odyssey," told The ENQUIRER, "Women were drawn to him. Most weekends he could be seen escorting beautiful women, each more dazzling than the one before." John's pursuit of girls landed him in trouble even as a teen! One night McCain and two palls tried unsuccessfully to pick up girls. They got into a shouting match with two of them, according to Timberg. Cops were called, and the boys -accompanied by their embarrassed parents -ended up in juvenile courts on charges of verbal assault. ++++ Comments by Jan I've councelled so many people who recognized themselves in the E7 archetype but also in the E6 and vice versa, that I applaud dr. Oldhams Adventurer/Anti Social Style: it integrates E7 with E6cf and matches so perfectly with McCains story of life as 'hellraiser'. Since the adventurous style persons are focussed at their own pleasures and DON'T really care that much about others feelings and are good at manipulating people ('the fox' archetype; he now tries to project a moralistic E1 behavior style stressing values) I wonder how sincere McCain was when he said that 'he never gotten over the mental anguish'. The article also shows the impatient intolerance that pops up when the E7/6 doesn't get what he wants quickly (they get stressed.) I suspect our regular forum contributer Andy to be an 'adventurous style'person; do you recognize something of McCain's style in yourself Andy? McCains is probably more close to E7 than to E6; he failed in his campaign because he overestimated the need of the American population to 'have something else' (E7's are easily bored with things.) Enneagrammists would say McCaine has an 6W7 or 7w6 character style. Jan
