Quite contrary to what most enneagrammists believe; the image of Jesus as promoted by the katholic church is very E4-ish. E4's can't stand suffering (I recently saw an E4 woman looking at an Africa animal documentary; she couldn't stand watching the lion eating other beasts...but kept watching!); and 'redemption' is the end of suffering and as such a very E4-ish concept. Its quite wrong to name E4 as masochistic in the physical sense; the 'hit me'masochists who really like suffering as a way of pre-paid punishment are E6's. Unconsciously they seem to think they get some credit for making mistakes when they are punished before having done something wrong. Jesus preyed to god to let the crucifiction NOT happen to him!
The dark baroque painting really radiates this E4 ambiance very well. dr. Oldham description of the Self-Sacrificing style (Jesus) is very E4-ish. The talent for drifing into dangerous situations despite the availability of positive options described by both Narango and Oldham is very E4-ish.

PS I don't claim to analyze the real Jesus; 'only' the popular crucifiction image.
