Hi Celeste, I agree with you completely. I like the messages. The manner in which they were put forth escalated throughout the movie. I don't easily get upset in movies except in meaningless, goalless violence.

The extreme bodily encounters in the movie were meant to emphasize the messages probably.

I've been through long movies before but this one was noticeably long.

Another message, some young guy from here told me, was homosexuality. The yearning for fights is a desire of men for homosexuality. I've heard the same argument for wrestling (not the pro one) and American football.

I guess if one represses the shadow side too much it will come out at unexpected times and will cost a lot.

I had thought the personality was a fight between a 5 and a 7 or an 8, but it could well be a fight inside a 8w9 or 9w8 as someone pointed out.

Cheers and *:) Gigi

: Dear all,

: I think Fight Club's a bit too violence. It's hard to bare. But I still like the message behind the plot.

: Brad Pitt seems to be the Shadow Personality of Edward Norton. What Edward don't do in his nine-to-five life, Brad Pitt do. Brad Pitt seems to be quite good in the beginning, he's able to deliver Edward from his monotonous life. Edward find his lost energy when he stays with Brad Pitt.

: However, once Edward has given up his own responsibility to life, the shadow personality can definitely possess him.

: All of us have our shadow sides, it's a good idea that we can face our dark or opposite sides. Otherwise, if we leave our shadows unacknowledged, the shadows may get a chance to dominate us.

: That's what I get from this movie. :)

: Celeste.
