: THE GOLDEN GIRLS (NBC tv sitcom series 1985-1992)

Loved this show – (do I need to get a life!?).

Dorothy (E2?) played by E8w7 Bea Arthur – remember her as E8 Maude back in the 1970s?

The ditzy E9 ‘St. Olaf’ Rose played by E2w3 Betty White was my favourite though.
Anyone remember Betty White’s hit record in the 1950s ‘inspired’ by the UFO craze,
‘The Little Blue Man’?…

“’I wuv you, I wuv you’, said the Little Blue Man,
‘I wuv you, I wuv you to bits’.” ……. yehcchhh

: The sitcom characters analyzed:

: Mother- E1
: Grumpy sarcastic/sour moralizing granny; to Dorothy she says; 'Don't let your ego get involved!' (not a bad advice to give to an E2). She's right in her judgements but her critical attitude repels others.

: BLANCHE - E7
: Hedonistic man-izer, tries to escape to her age mentally, over-optimistic/enthusiastic. Narcissistic; 'I am a vibrant, exciting woman!' She's so happy with herself (it seems)

: DOROTHY - E2
: Empathetic helper, 'Jimmy, whatever you want, I am there for you', 'helping always makes me feel better'

: JIMMY - fobic E6
: He doesn't take things on face value, no trust, switching between dependency ('take me!') and fearful resistence. Doesn't leave his house because of street-phobia and lots of other fobia's. He's a reactionary; his room/lifestyle is in the 1970's hippy style. He gets security from that.
