: : I don't understand how you mixed-up these two definitions. I hope you're not equating Self-Confident Personality Style and Narcissistic Personality Disorder - Dr. Oldham certainly doesn't.

: +++ Lets get fundamental. On your web pages you cite the Encyclopedia Brittancia; to stress that there is no empty land between a character style and a personality disorder; a personality disorder is NOT a disease, its the outer end of the continuum/range. Naranjo's book is sub-titled An Integrative view of Character and Neurosis. Both Haider and Schwarzenegger are probably somewhere on the high/extreme side of the Gauss curve in their styles. They have NO disorder; but I didn't suggest that. Oldham clearly mentions that to have a disorder the full set of characteristics could be seen. I believe that some traits of disorders can be seen in normal people without them being 'disorderly'. So: it's not a black and white picture (normal OR disorder); and as you will understand by now: 'you are seriously wrong' (tongue in cheek!)
: cheers

I don't have much of problem with any of that. But that wasn't the point of my post. I wanted to make it clear that what you said that Dr. Oldam said wasn't true. Since you didn't acknowledge that in your reply, I guess I'll have to do it for you. This is what Jan said about Dr. Oldham that isn't true:

: : : : +++ Comments by Jan
: : : : dr. Oldham describes as main traits of the Self-Confident character style:
: : : : 'lacks empathy, is unwilling to recognize or identify with the feelings and needs of others' >>>> Oldham page 99, point 7.

: :
: : Oldham also writes 'they are able to take advantage of other people to achieve their goals and are shrewd (i.e. unreliable/situational) in their dealings with others' >>>> Oldham page 99, point 6.
