To all:
I've noted several posts concering Limbaugh and felt compelled to respon, primarily to those who attacked criticism of the "big fat Idiot".
I'll preface this by saying that personally I trascend politics;politics only exists where irrationality exists. However, fone must participate in the present dAY EVENTS AND AS SOBVIOSULY THAT MEANSi MUST ALIGN MYSELF IN CERTAIN SOME WAYS. pOLITICALLY, i AM INDEPENDENT;THERE ARE GOOD AND BAD ON BOTH SIDES OF THE POLITICAL FIELF AND DIE-HARD LIBERALS AND CONSERVATIVES ARE BOTH IDIOTS. i AGREE WITH LBERALISM FOR INSTANCE WITH REGARD TO THE ENVIROMENT AND WITH CONSERVATIM WITH REGARD TO REDUCING COVERNMENT AND Pprotecting constitiutional rights. Howver, my primry concdern when voting is with the character of the candidate. Policy doen't mean a damn thing if the the man representing our country has no moral charcter.(the current president ias a prime example as is Nixon). Over thepast few electiond the cndidates with the most character have usually been Republican and so that is how (I voted. I stress this so that any "diitoheads" out there understand that the following asnalysis is objectively made with no regard to politics but only with regard to the percsonality and character of Limbayugh.
First,6 and 9 traits dominate Limbaugh:he is a classic example of thecounterphobic nobody with noreal sense of identity who finds something to latch onto and buries himself in thatrole
9 traits(negative)> vague sense of identity
6 traits(neg):fearful, insecure, counterphobic response to insecurity and vague sense of identiy by adopting a cuase and edefining himself through that. Develops huge ego in the process but ego is fragile as a dry, brittle leaf in late Autumn: is a control freak, not allowing dissenting guest onto his show and refuses to let callers really express there viewpoints if they differ from his. Is plenty boastful(talent on loan from Gpod) behin a camera or mic wherr he has complete control but would collapse in an objective format. This a guy who didn't vote until he was in his 30';his love of Reagan and consevratism in general is less something deeply felt but rather something he adopted as he realized that he was building an identity(and a a DEGREE OF IMporytasnce ) from it by taloking about it on the radio. This should be obvious when one considers that he is mostly concerned with himself anf his image than he is with the casue. Most telling is his past staement admitting that he once drew umemployment while he sat on his rear at home too lazy to do do anything but eat and watch tv(to paraphrase) . Given that this is am an who rails against big government and those who have sought government help(at times calling them weaklings and idiots) one must admit there is something seriously wrong with the guy.It also indicates again, that his atytachment to the casue is less about the casue than it is about the gratification of his own ego that he receives through his broadcasting the casue(or rather his twuiosted version of conservatim). The fact that someone like Limbaug--a lazy do-nothing for most of his life prior to his radio show--cna achiev the staus and influence that he has tells alot about the general susceptability and anbd lack of thinking(ditto!)of the average person in today's society. A lazy do-nothing with an interest in conservative politcs speaks on a radio and finds that he gets attention for it. He becomes more agrressive in his approach until he gets his own show and becasue most of socieyty is not directly involved with the everyday political process and becasuse they atren't on the radio, they are influence d by thosde that ARE on the radio just becasue the voice is there. In other words, Limbaugh's influence is a rather sick fluke:it happened becasue a lazy counterphobic idiot found an identity behind a mic.not becasue a geniune conservative guru wanted to get a message out to the people. The show is about Rush, not conservatism or politcs. The fluke is similar to that odf Dasn Quayle(a bonafide idiot--read some of his quotwes on-line. Heis idiocy is NOT EXAGEERATED)MANAGING to become a prospective presidential candidate: George Bush need a RM and and chose Qualye despite all the reasons not to(bush later said" I bew it").In this case a lazy idiot(Quayle once told a friend that he wanted to be a lawyer becasue it a was alot of money for no real work) manages to acieve a position of power and influence becasue he was dabbling in politcs. In Limbaughs case he achieved his staus by dabbling in radio and politics--the combination took off and the rest is history.
One final analogy for the reader to consider is the following: Anotherr radio host who has a great influence on milllions of listeners(all be it the less intelligent fring e elements) is Art Bell. Once again, this is another example of how an idiot can gain enormous influence just becasue he is able to broadcast his beliefs and others can't. There may be some legitmacy in a few of the things Art dicuswes but by and large most of the topics are arepure hyperbole and and more centered on the personality quirks of the host than they are concerned with reality. Jyust like Rush's show.
