This is a guy who played in relatively small movies with great stories. He was aiming for an Oscar. Once achieved, a logical next step would be to achieve success as a movie star--playing fun roles now, nott primarily serious ones and getting to express his love of heroic character.However, just becasue he has gone commercial doesn't mean he's sold out. His newer movies are more like his older ones than they are like Con Air or Face/off.
