In defense of the Big Brother program...
Personally, I don't find it any better or worse than the Survivor show. I found the Survivor show to be incredibly annoying at times, and felt it was far too over-produced with the music, and the editing, and so forth. I found it way too much like the MTV-versions of so-called "reality" programming, with the people on the show often shown talking to the camera as if it was... I don't know.. what's the deal there?
Which is why I balk at calling it a "reality show." Big Brother I think is much more pure in the sense of trying to convey reality. This is, of course, why it has not been as popular.. REAL LIFE IS BORING AS HELL. Most of the time, reality does NOT provide for entertaining television. That's why they put those guys out on and island and made then eat bugs and rats. Because it's NOT real. It's almost cartoonish, the stuff they did..
Which is why I, unlike most other people, can tolerate and at times even enjoy Big Brother. I am a huge fan of observing other people and their behaviors. I don't mind that. Most of the viewing public can't tolerate a bunch of people just lounging around talking, but that's just me.
As far as the voting out of the exciting people is concerned... Recognize that the people who think the show is boring are not going to pay 95 cents to vote out a boring person. You have to hate someone in order to make the call, and people who are outspoken or recognizable are more likely to be noticed, and therefore, rub people the wrong way. Also, I think the viewership of the show, at least those who watch it and care a lot about it, are a sect of the population who wanted the group to all get along, without conflict. This is a sect of viewers who watched the first two "troublemakers" and voted them out. They saw the group become closer-knit after that and enjoyed it. I think the voters in general just watched the show and wanted to watch a big happy family. And that is what they got, at the expense of excitement and "interesting" television suited for someone who wanted another "Survivor" but didn't get it.
I think we also have to take in account the nature of the Big Brother shows, which are all produced into 30 minute programs in the matter of 1 day, whereas the producers of Survivor knew what had happened, and could take everything they knew about every day, take their shots and make them into an interesting and reasonably exciting story.
So that's that.
: Jamie: Beauty queen and ex-valedictorian. aka JamieFayeBaker. Never seen without lipgloss or a plastic smile on her face. She has no personality except the fake ones she uses to get the other dim houseguests to like her. Deceptive, very success-oriented 3.
I think she gets a bad rap for some reason. I found her to be more out-of-place than any of the group. She didn't really talk much, was always on the outskirts of the conversation, mostly observing. A nice enough sort, I don't find her fake, just suprisingly shy and unwilling to be herself. But likely a 3 nonetheless.
: Curtis: affable Asian lawyer. Peace-lovin, nap-takin, bright, like-able but dull.. people have no opinion on him one way or another and that's why I think he'll win. 9.
I always thought he was a cool guy. Nothing to really hate about him.. Good job with the word "affable" to describe him. And probably a 9.
: Eddie: tough one-legged New Yorker. He's the only person being real, honest, and strategic. Immature and vulgar at times, testing, and puts up an 'I am strong' demeanor. 8.
True, true. I do beleive that he could be a 6, though.
: Josh: bland engineering student. He tried to play Brittany and Jordan at the same time with no results except looking like a fool. He has a nervous, halting voice, and kind of softness. Not sure about Sloshie, he seems like a regular dumb jock to me but tries to cultivate an image of being a high IQed shy loner. Maybe phobic Six.
Defnitely a strange one. Strange in that he is very stereotypical of a preppy college guy. Either really smart or really average. I personally think he more than anyone else is putting up a front of being more friendly and huggy than he really is, to not get left out of the group which developed that sort of "togetherness" 6, 9?
: The rest have already been banished:
: George: Fred Flintstone-like family man. A very weird dude... high voice, always making costumes and putting on skits, delusional thinking and cult-like figure when he tried to organize a walk-out among the houseguests. He gets hysterical and emotional at times, and other times pretended nothing was wrong. Reminds me of 7 running away from pain.
A weird guy, indeed. I thought he's closer to a 6.. kind of paranoid about stuff...
: Cassandra: classy black UN worker. She held her dignity and self-respect throughout her stay. Gave Yoda-like advice to those who came to her. She held back a lot, though, as most of them do. Perfectionist 1.
Definitely classy. I think she took that role in the house but did not seem so much like a 1 once she got out. Oh well.
: Brittany: professional who's a club kid at night. She was the most vibrant and emotionally honest in the house. Funny-annoying, extroverted, wanted to be special and the center of attention all the time, made the closest relationships in the house. At first I thought Two, but perhaps another Seven?
Either a 2 or 7, yes. Incredibly bubbly and needy. Probably a 2 going into the house, acting more like a 7 once she got out. Whether or not it takes will be a matter of time.
: Karen: the mother. Her much-touted "kids" are practically grown up. Made her bad marriage a central issue. Handled her banishment nomination very poorly, didn't consider that her loyal bud Jamie had voted for her. Paranoid, insecure 6.
Yep.
: Jordan: the stripper/athlete with a brain. She freely admitted being manipulative, playing with Josh's attention just to get at Brittany. She came off as pretentious a lot. Prolly the only inuitive in the house, along with maybe Mega and Josh. I don't know... most likely another Three.
I might venture to say 3w4 or 4w3.
: Will Mega: the former New Black Panther guy and first one banished. Uh, I missed all the episodes he was in.
I did too. From what I understand, was very domineering and liked to mess with everyone else in the house. my best guess is a 6 or an 8.
