Leisurely Style (one subtype):

whenever 'negativistic' people see that somebody likes to do something or is enthusiastic about something, there unconscious little devil gets activated; he seem to grab his little 'vacuum cleaner' and tries to suck the enthusiasm away by making negative comments.

They can keep doing this for a long time; a kinda 'war of attrition' can result. Mostly the enthusiastic person gets irritated. It's a kinda mild version of mental sadism.
