Enneagram Movie Board Archive Re: the DISC personality systemPosted by Lisa on December 29, 2000 at 18:00:18: In Reply to: the DISC personality system posted by Cory on December 27, 2000 at 23:32:07: : This seems like an interesting system. From what I've read, it seems particularily accurate and more "real" than other systems (like MB and Enneagram) which I am skeptical of. One reason for this is that while I find it very difficult to type me on the MB/Enneagram systems, I immediately recognized myself in this. I am a strong S with moderate I/C followed by a weak D. Yes I've been waiting for the DISC to be brought up! : It measures a person's personality in 4 areas... : Dominance : Influence : Steadiness : Cautious : : The reserved aspect seems to correlate to IS. The reserved types tend to be more likely to hold back (I) and preserve the status quo and don't like alot of change thrown on them (S). Both the S and C types are more accepting of standard procedures (S) than either the D or I types. The outgoing aspect seems to correlate to EN. They are more outgoing, more proactive (E), more likely to welcome change (N) even start changing things just to not get bored. Task orientedness seems to correlate with TJ. Primarily concerned with getting the task done (J) and tend to be more focused on the task than people (T). People orientedness would then correlate with FP. More focused on meeting people's needs (F) and may do so even if it interferes with getting the task done (P). Putting all this together, here are my best correlations between myers-briggs and DISC types: D: outgoing/task ENTJ So an ENTJ would primarily be D, an ENFP primarily I, etc. For the remaining 12 types, they would be mixes. For instance ISFJ is between ISTJ and ISFP and would probably have high S and C. Here are my guesses for the best fit DISC type with each MBTI type: ISTJ: very high C, moderate D and S, very low I : This is if you look at each letter seperately. We are all a mixture of the four letters, so this is why you can be a MB type which isn't on that list. A person with high D and C (like in your analysis) would most likely be an ESTJ, for example.
: One = moderate D, low I, moderate S, very high C I have to laugh here since I am a one and I took the DISC and that was my exact result! : Two = low D, high I, high S, low C I think the more counterphobic sixes might have high D scores. I think the I is more moderate but I agree with the high S and C (especially if phobic) : Seven = high D (if 7w8), very high I, low S, very low C Eight and nine are exact opposites. What about 9w8 and 8w9? Would they score very close on all the scales? It would be interesting. : DISC type/Oldham type Adventerous: high D and I : I = Dramatic, Mercurial, Self-Confident Self confident sounds more like a high D style with a moderate amount of I thrown in there : S = Devoted, Leisurely, Sensitive, Self-Sacrificing I think you hit the nail on the head. All the types you mention for C are the ones I score high on (in addition to sensitive). I think the serious style would also be high C Lisa
