: Annette Bening-1w9. Although she is three in many ways her 1 obsessive/compulsiveness is more evident than trying to flatter people.
: When stress overwhelms her she begins sobbing uncontrollably (1 to 4). The one need for autonomy causes her to snap out of her crying episodes by slapping herself in the face and scolding "be strong". Her sex affair and new passion for shooting guns represent the "Trapdoor" releases that ones may use to experience temporary intense gratifications in order to relieve the stress from their angry, supressed superegos.

+++ She seems to have so little self-confidence that she has to prove herself towards her environment, introjecting the role of succesful broker. Ansir calls this type 'the - often disappointed - Idealist' because of their over-compensating ambition. This is better than Oldham who writes of the Serious Style that they are not ambitious. But she is Serious Style with weak ego strength. Both Ansir and Oldham label this character as the 'the glass is half empty'-type.
