Enneagram Movie Board Archive Emperor NeroPosted by Jan den Breejen on March 25, 2001 at 04:34:43:
![]() Emperor Nero The adopted son of emperor Claudius and his wife Agrippina, could rise to the throne because of Agrippa's conspiracy to put him there. As emperor, Nero had two tutors in Burrus of the Praetorian guards, and the philopopher Seneca. For a time he followed their tutelage, showing promise of good and ruler. Soon however paranoia became his dominant passion and he indulged in a life of pleasure and hedonistic pursuits, incurring extraordinary expenses. Like Hitler, Nero began to show great cruelty and blaming of others for things he often had caused himself (Hitler just before his death blamed the jews for WWII.) When his mother had quarrelled with him and threatened to put her son Brittanicus on the throne Nero poisoned Brittanicus. He then in a Stalin-like way he proceeded to murder those who didn't show fear of him and he suspected were plotting to do away with him. Agrippina was poisoned, then Seneca and Lucan the poet, and his wives Octavia and Poppae Sabrina. When Rome burned in A.D. 64 Nero didn't care and had no concern for life or property (compare: Hitler ordered Germany to be destroyed towards the end of the war.) But Nero had to blame someone (he could have started the fires himself; that's what everyone whispered) so he picked the Christians and persecuted them for setting the fire. He ordered Christians to be thrown to the lions, tortured mercilessly and murdered. Aside from his egocentrism and cruelty we see another parellel with Hitler; just like Hitler ordered Speer to design a new grand Berlin as capital of the world; Nero had Rome rebuild with great extravagance and for him was erected the 'Golden House of Nero'. Like Stalin and Hitler his vigilance made him aware of conspiracies; he cought wind of the conspirators and had them killed. When the senate sentenced Nero to death he was executed in A.D. 68 by the sword of an attendant at his own request. Classification: Vigilant Style (paranoid disorder) with traits of Anti-Social Personality Jan
