they are cartoon characters, but why does that mean that they don't have enneagram types? i think the fact that they've been playing for over a decade and are still a wildly popular character-driven series shoudl indicate that the characters are true to an enneagram type. well-done characters always are. that's what makes them intuitively appealing.

homer is a 76. he drools when he thinks of donuts. he slacks at work. he has fear issues, and deals with them aggressively by consuming. he lives in a fantasy world. he can't be a 3, because he slacks at work as much as possible. he loves anything repetitive. he's the perfect model of 76.

bart is a 76. like father like son. also into repetitive things. concerned with experiencing fun things, being popular for being cool. (this is why he's so upset by being bullied, but can't help but antagonize them further.)

bart and homer have had a pen-clicking "race." homer: "you missed a great race, marge. bart was winning, but then he said this is stupid and he quit and I WON!"

marge is a 91. she once advised lisa to push all her bad emotions down into the back of her mind and force a smile. she makes that "mmmmm" nonoffensive growly noise that 91s make. she goes along with homer, even when she knows he's wrong. idealizes him to a fault. cares a lot about a clean/happy home. snaps once in a while.

lisa is a 45. cares WAY too much to be a 56. didn't want to go to school once because she was "too sad." not a 1, not angry enough, but idealistic and passionate. socially timid. this is so amazingly characteristic and typical of a 45.

lisa does'nt talk, but i think she's a 5 or an 8. either way, she's already much more of a genius than lisa ever could be. (qv the ayn rand daycare episode.) plus, she is an aggressive leader and problem solver. (saved homer from drowning once. of course, this was explained by a rare baby-adrenaline effect :)

milhouse is a 65. has some 5ish theorizing traits, but is so afraid of everything, and really not as good at theorizing as he is at toadying. too outwardly nervous and phobic to be a 5.

nelson is a 78. typical big bully. picks on others because he was picked on. 7ish, but without bart's or homer's fanciful craziness; very down-to-earth, doesnt' give a f*** about anyone else.

flanders is a 98, i think. some say a 91 and make a pretty ok case for it, but i don't really see enough "sourness" to him. lets homer walk all over him. "okily-dokily" is the perfect way to sum up 98ness.

i could believe that martin prince is a 54.

reverend lovejoy is kind of a mystery to me. not sure what type he is. probably just haven't seen enough of him, though the "answer-lady" episode did give us a lot of insight into his character, so maybe it's just me being lazy :) also not really sure on moe or apu, tho we've seen them enough that i should be able to make sense of it.

it probably also helps to watch the simpsons at least twice a day all week, and every sunday :)
