do. : Gigi> Emotions are the driving force behind actions. Therefore, one needs to be aware of emotions and direct them accordingly. One cannot make excuses of emotional condition for the behavior. As a result, instead of succumbing to any emotion which comes up (for example, "I feel lonely and need attention") it would be a good idea to take charge. +++ Yes there is a limitation to 'be yourself'; stay compatible with your renvironment. But that's more easy when you know WHAT environment lets you be yourself; which requires insight in your emotional needs. : : Ok, now here's the quiz. The assignment is: provide the corresponding E-type with the 9 talents. Give it a try!
: Gigi> As I have replied to your first Analysis I do not think that we should type with those short descriptions. You might have a certain person in your mind whom you have met, but we have not had the chance to communicate with her/him. How can you expect us to guess? It was the same with the other two analyses you posted down below. You had people in your mind. The first one was you definitely with your picture, but still I assumed I only had the written information you gave us. Even if it sounded like 1w9 I still insist that it can be a 3, 6, 8, or 9. The second one sounded like 6, but again I ask the question to you: : What are you trying to do? If you need help in pinpointing types with the information you have we are ready to help. But I don't think you want our help. In that case this is a futile game. +++ It's not that black and white; in the sense that somebody knows 'it'and somebody doesn't know. The exiting thing with a forum is that you can put together the pieces of knowledge we have and discuss to see if we can get a synthesis of insights. Often we see that people change views; well thats learning. Bi-lateral learning. : As Andy also wrote now and before, we cannot type people like this, even just for fun. We type our fellow posters now and then when asked, only when they have posted long enough for us to get a feeling of that person. Still it is only a guess. +++ we are not typing persons here; but images or archetypical forms, withing which there is an enormous range of variety of real persons. So were talking about archetypes and there is no need to taboo that. However if it doesn't feel good to you; don't participate.
: The Enneagram is about motivations, not traits, as *everybody* knows. Your first Analysis proved this for me again very clearly: I do all those things in your description and I am a 3. (It is so funny also that you choose the winner! Because you have a certain person in your mind.) +++ Of course we are interested in the motivations and emotional needs; but tell me; do you know another way apart from looking to external behavioor thats more valid? Its just like what Churchill said about democracy; íts a bad way but there is no better. We really are all behaviorists in daily life; assuming needs of people by observing behaviors and thinking about why a person does it. So its also a bit hypocritical to taboo it. : Please let us play other Enneagram games. +++ What's your proposal? Be pro-active.... : As for the talents below you know what? E7 is multi-talented, so a healthy E7 can display all of those traits. +++ really? We can all show all behaviors (especially E3's) but the stress this costs us increases when we show behavior thats not connected to the basic motivations. So you need to make a distinction between personality and behavior. Especially one connected to healthy E1 and healthy E5. I know a person like that. What do you say? +++ I don't believe in the enneagram symbology; when someone tells you that these ARE the links (wings etc) you will see them because we all have all styles in varying degrees and we are easily (unconsciously) influenced by what people say to us. Thats why so incredible large numbers of people think their astrology story is true. +++ Its good to hear that you like it. I like your contibutions too (how about Grandville? can you find it in the library?) Jan
