There seems to be an interesting contrast between the cruel gods of the east and the more benevolent 'mother god' tradition in (Indo-)Europe's pre-historic period (Metis-goddess, Venus of Milo statue.)Perhaps Jesus represents this European helping tradition and God the eastern/semitic cruel god tradition?
