I had a short e-mail discussion about Esher, which you might find interesting. You can read more about Esher in my original message which I posted some time ago on this Forum. Question to Perceiver: I guessed that Esher was INTJ; could you agree with that? I wonder if INTJ's really are only 1% of the population (Since I am an INTJ myself; I wondered if my character style is so rare?) Jan (PS the picture shows an archetypical 'polder' landscape in Holland) e-mail text citation: I was not aware of Oldham's work until I looked it up, and haven't used it. My interest in Esher is from afar and in looking pattern change/transition. Using: Esher graphics - I pulled down your site and read your description, and this was the day after we saw the movie portrayal of John Forbes Nash, Jr. in "A beautiful mind." While he is portrayed as a paranoid schizophrenic, and there are clear elements of that, the manner in which his social awkwardness and lack of awareness of context as well as his projection that "People don't like me very much" was more what I'd seen in a few constricted yet gifted people. Of course these models are in the extreme, and I've known many scientists who clearly do not fit the picture of the idiosyncratic scientist, as portrayed by Oldham. Your description seems to fit more into Asperger's syndrome. Some might indicate that he has a "dual syndrome" - but again these things are constructs about what else to look for when we see such unfortunates. "Dual syndromes" themselves can be related to many things - including those who are addicted + something else, or paranoid personality + something else. Esher is not Nash nor vv. John Steiner
