: First, I like to have everything correct. It bugs me when things aren't spelled right or factual; I think, "Hey, that's not right!" I want to fix 'em. I am just as self-critical as I am other-critical (although I rarely make spelling errors, for that reason). ***You mean you don't like it when things aren't spelled "correctly." Remember to use adverbs properly, Bartholomew. : Then, it gives my ego a boost to know that I caught an error that the other person doesn't. I get to roll in how smart I am. ***You caught an error that the other person "didn't." Please strive for agreement of tense, Bartholomew. *** Also, do you really think that what your ego needs is a "boost?" : Then once I've found it, I point the error out to the person for a few reasons. I'd like credit for spotting the error (like I've "won" and I want the point to go in the books), I'd consider it sneaky and falsely positive, almost a lie, NOT to point it out to them, and it gives them an incentive to proofread more thoroughly in the future. Do *you* have sufficient incentive now? :
