Sharlee : : : The Mothman Prophesies (2002) : : When we extract the supernatural things from this horror movie; discounting for the state of collective delusion that had put a spell on a real life Ohio village and try to analyze the main characters; I get to this intuitive assessment: : : - John : : Richard Gere plays his natural style; the ‘star reporter’ with poise, who even when still there is not any clue to supernatural things; assumes that ‘the universe has special attention to us’. Self Confident Style of character.(Riso 3w2) : : - Eddie : : Eddie is John’s collegue at the Washington Post. His style of communication is a bit irritating; the things he tells John (‘you sound stressed’) are mostly true, but the fact that he communicates them without much tact or empathy and that it’s the focus of his attention makes me think of Leisurely Style (9w8) : : : : - Gordon : : Gordon behaves like a paranoid schizophrenic, hearing voices come out of the kitchen sink; and who finally commits suicide. Idiosyncratic Style (5w4) : : - Connie : : Conny is very empathic and a social person; she’s a friendly cop helping the population when their are problems, and not being concerned for her own life being in danger. Self-Sacrificing Style (2w1) : : - Indrid Cold : : This is the Mothman; the virtual ‘character’, cold and sadistic (‘you are afraid, aren’t you?’), intimidating and causing pain (physical and emotional), ‘behaving’ like the devil himself. Agressive Style (8w7) : : - prof. Alexander Leek : : Schizophrenic professor in physics; who has been in a psychiatric hospital for a few years, after claiming he heard voices and had psychic insights into the future. Wrote a book about ‘things that can’t be explained rationally’. Mysterious man; ‘I can’t tell more about it’. Idiosyncratic Style (5w4) : : : : What about Gordon’s wife? She suddenly leaves him after he gets mentally ill, but his death is traumatic to her. Could be Mercurial Style? : : Jan
