I get very angry with myself for not being able to get involved in a situation. I TRY and experience it fully, withough feeling so damn detached, but it doesn't work. I always end up feeling like a character in a book, like you said, no matter what I do. I want to be able to experience something FOR REAL once, instead of so indirectly.
