I have long made a study of anti-dualism, and the attempt to explain human nature as having differing parts raised questions about these issues for me too. I was tempted to use the phrase 'bodymind' except I hate using naff, cliched new-agey terms. Of course oneness and unity within the person should be our aim, yet division between head and heart, body and mind are the unfortunate case for some. But the Spirit I'm talking about isn't an object as such, so cannot be perceived as a part of the self which is separate from the rest of us; I'm not suggesting we retreat into some inner space where body and mind and personality don't exist. This Spirit transcends our being and at the same time unifies it and brings it into harmony.
