I don't consider what I wrote about to be religion as such, as it's so general and talked about in every religion. Aldous Huxley named it 'The Perenniel Philosophy' because it kept turning up in all sorts of religious and philosophical systems. He identified the common elements. I'm not stating my beliefs, as something that I've held onto for a long time, but stated what I've come to understand fairly recently, or at least have seen it presented in a form which I find intelligible and which clarifies it. Though I've believed in the value of meditation for a long time, my recent reading has really illuminated the whole basis of my faith for me, and emphasised what is essential. I'm not coming at this so much with a view to converting people to a specific belief, as to see how much sense this makes to other Fours. Unfortunately I got a lot of responses from people who aren't Fours, which is a whole different ball-game as far as self-exposure goes.

You're suggestion that what is essential in life shouldn't be discussed, is very strange. Especially here where the Enneagram essentially says the same thing, that we have to notice where our thought patterns and defence mechanisms are coming from and try to get in touch with Essence and come from there instead.

The point you make about having too many other things to worry about, is a little absurd, I'm afraid, in the light of what I'm saying as to the essentiality of engaging in this process, one of the main aims of which is the removal of anxiety and the finding of 'the Peace that passeth understanding'.
