It was just my first reaction, I donīt remember why. Maybe because I find it more interesting when both differences and similarities between faiths are discussed. : The position of Jesus in my view is a somewhat unique one in that it is very important to Christianity that he was a part of history. This isnt' the case to the same degree with other religious figures. C.S. Lewis always stressed how Jesus marked a turning point in bringing myth into history. There had been myths of virgin births and sons of God before, but these were attributed to legendary culture heroes, not to historical persons. This juxtaposition of myth and history is particularly important in us taking on board the message of Jesus in our present age. Jesus claimed himself to be the forerunner of a new type of man who would know that God was in him. OK, give us some reference to the Bible about this. He represents the New Adam, who incorporates all people in the way that the old Adam incorporated all people in the myth of the Fall. I'm too tired right now to go into the details of Christian theology, but maybe in a later post. : Btw, New Age thinking isn't new at all, it represents various strands of religious thought from several thousand years or more. I know that very well. Maybe one can say that according to New Age we are entering into a period when we will be much more open to ancient wisdom. Sara
