: We've had freaky snowfall in both the north and southwest, 3ft in Somerset, which is rare in Winter, and quite a few lambs died because they couldn't be rounde up to be brought in in time. But the next day, today, has been a lovely spring/summery day, light blue skies and sunshine and blossom, loads of daffodils and birds singing. (I don't mean the dafs. are singing) I did think of sitting in the garden and getting the sun on my face this afternoon, but I lay down on my bed to listen to my meditation tape and fell asleep for three hours! It's so nice not to suffer from insomnia any more! Then I cooked Moroccan vegetable cous cous.

3 feet of snow in "Zomerzet"? That's quite a lot. We haven't had any snow for a while and it's obvious it's very late winter already, but not exactly spring in the usual meaning. Here it isn't as much about the weather, although it changes, but so slowly you just realize at some point the winter is gone. The most sharpest change is in the amount of sunlight. Today sunrise was at 6.24am and sunset will be at 8.22pm. When it's mid-winter, early February, those times are 8.20am and 4.50pm. Feels so different, even though the temperature wouldn't change. Well, actually the temperature doesn't tell that much, as the heating effect by the sun is so radically different as well.

PS: For those who are interested, the longest day is June 21. Sun rises at 3.54am and sets at 10.50pm. And I live in the south where the night is long during summers...
