It makes things more interesting and descriptive, but it can certainly be difficult for a non-native english speaker. : Little Trappings: He means that he still has a strong desire for material posessions, the things that money can buy. I believe he was saying it bothers him that he still feels this need so strongly. : External Self-Distinguishment: He's trying to show others how different he is by the way he looks and acts, and the things he has. : Hope this helps. : - Hal -
