Though recent developments have left me not knowing or caring what type I am, I'll answer your question anyway..
I don't like to exercise at all. Especially the kind of exercise which I see as "exercise for the sake of exercise." The whole walking or running thing...I can't stand that and can't imagine how anyone can find running enjoyable.
When I was a kid I used to play outside all the time and so that served as my exercise. I was always really skinny then, and I figured if I ever stopped that, I'd get pretty out of shape. Well, now I AM out of shape, but not overweight by any means. About as far to the other end of the spectrum as possible.
I hate exercising, but I don't mind doing things that accomplish the same thing as exercising. I will never bust out the inline skates and rollerblade around for a while, but I'd love to strap them on and play street hockey more often. Too bad.
So I guess I have a few more years left of not exercising and being skinny before it catches up to me. I don't drink beer much, so that avoids the putting on of the gut for at least a little while longer.. Oh well.. It doesn't really matter to me anyway. Even if I got a gut and such, I wouldn't do anything about it.
: Greetings fellow 4's :)
: I am interested to know who among us is into exercise. I know Hal is a health freak (I mean that in a loving way Hal:), and, up until recently, I listed exercise along with any other allegies I had - but I am now a convert! (someone better get a chair for Hal).
: I have mentioned recently that I had been in hospital shortly after Hal went back home. I was due to be operated on in the early hours of a Tuesday morning, but (luckily for me) things righted themselves on the Monday night. At 7am the next morning when I should have been on the operating table, the surgeon came to visit me with all my medical results and x-rays and announced that he and I were going to have a little talk. He then laid out the bare facts - which in a nutshell said loud and clear that I was in terrible shape and would likely be looking at an early grave. Talk about a big wake-up call. He said that I could avoid all this by paying attention to "the big W's" as he called them. Walk every day, drink lots of Water and fit in a Workout every opportunity I got.
: So....I have been walking religiously and drinking more water than the average fish - and do my regular Tae Bo workout....and I'm loving it!
: Whodathunkit! Me - enjoying exercise! I've blown my reputation so far out of the water that I'm gaining a new one. My poor friends say that their whole cosmos is out of whack and they have to adjust their thinking!
: What surprises me is that I'm not only loving it - but it's having all kinds of other benefits that I hadn't even thought of. I mean, sure - I'm losing weight, which is very nice I suppose (I don't really give a pair of fetid dingoes kidneys about it though) - but I can't believe how expending energy actually energises me more. Not only that, but I can concentrate better, I handle stress better and I even feel more emotionally and spiritually 'in touch'.
: I've read all this before - but to actually experience it....wow!
: Just for the record, though....I'm still a night owl (I frequently go for my walks at 4am when I get home from the studio before I go to bed) - and I ALWAYS stop for a smoke about halfway through my walk. I'm doing it on my own terms, Hal :)
: So come on guys....spill it.
