The description you gave sounds a little nebulous (although I don't mean to suggest that I have discounted it offhand). The vices I'm familiar with seem pretty damn awful. I'm not sure you really mean vices as much as just 'patterns' that are maladaptive, and that the enneagram can aid into the transformation of. Vice into virtue seems going too far. (When I say 'you' I mean I am just interested in what Tiggy's, and now your, interpretation is. I realize I can reference it in enneagram texts but the way Tiggy said it it sounded so matter-of-fact. I wanted to be sure people took it that way.) Julian
: Until insight is gained, we accept a false sense of reality and believe : Our predominant fault to be a virtue. The Enneagram helps us to recognize : our fixation and provide more choice. The fault is now a well-honed skill : that can be used in positive, beneficial way, no longer as a vice, but as : a real virtue. : Many people object to the subjective, religious aspect of the above and : approach the subject differently. The names given types by various authors : involve descriptors of the chief attributes: Reformer/Achiever, Helper, : Succeeder/Achiever, Individualist/Artist, etc. capture nature of "redeemed" : types. Naranjo uses names that accent the pathology (happiness through : masochism, the persecuted persecutor.)) : Perhaps, the word "constantly" caught your interest. That is a matter of : opinion and placement of attention (IMO.) What we see is often what we get. : I do see transforming potential in the Enneagram. I do not equate that with : a religious experience. I am not trying to be better, just less fixated. : In my case, it is because I am more comfortable and less conflicted. I am : still a nine though. I hope I am less entrapped.
