Brian, Would you say a 9 is more likely to be MPD or BPD? What can one do to help somewhat with dissociative problems?
I have a friend who is a 9 who I think really suffers. I wish I knew how to help.
: Some women dissociate and lose a sense of self. The cutting introduces a sense of reality and symptom relief by re-establishing
: contact with the body. Combined with a mercurial temperament, self cutting can be an indication of Borderline Personality Disorder;
: MPD, and/or sexual violation. Dissociating takes them out of body. Cutting brings them back. These exciting, dramatic
: individuals may cling and distance. Trust and betrayal are issues. Narcissist/Borderline couples have a hand and glove fit.
: The book might interest you. I forget the author's name at this moment. It is a female psychotherapist. She also works with
: women who are in abusive realtionships (another form of self injury-happiness through pain.) Recovery is difficult for the women
: because of the underlying Object-Self dynamics. Lucid moments are brief windows of opportunity for insight. Doesn't sound
: like fun.
