: : I hate this time of year. :( I suspect it's seasonal depression. I wish I were in Hawaii or someplace right now. It's usually better by Christmas though.
: Yeah, I sometimes get the "seasonal depression" too. I do like the ideals of holidays, and the kind spirit
: that they are meant to represent and engender; but the holidays are usually depressing for single people
: especially those who live away from home. I'm grateful to those friends I have that remember me during the
: holidays, but I live on the opposite coast from my Mom and sister, and many others friends just assume I have
: a nice cozy functional nuclear family unit to go back to at anytime. Yeah, the lack of consideration does get
: to me sometimes. My uncle who I'm currently visiting often organizes a "charlie-in-the-box" party at
: Christmas time. Anyway, I think I understand. Do you get pangs in your gut when you see Christmas lights?

Maybe you could get together with other single friends, or just do something you enjoy alone for the holidays. I actually like Christmas lights and decorations... it's more the weather that gets to me this time of year. The shorter days and lack of sun that happens in October-November has a physical and psychological effect that makes me want to go into hibernation. Bah humbug!
